A flash back in time to Faberville.

2011.07.23
Last night, Cyrus Poe and I drove north of Delaware, Ohio to watch an outdoor theatre performance of Evil Dead The Musical! and a good time was had by all. I was fortunate to only get sprayed by a miniscule amount of blood.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 2 was excellent. We watched the first seven movies in the week or so leading up to the release of part 2. It was an amazing conclusion to a decade of build-up. This series will be the "star wars" of this generation. Twenty years from now, people at comic book conventions will still be dressing as Hogwarts characters. I hope J.K. Rowling protects this series better than George Lucas protected Star Wars.

I made a quick post when I returned from Gatlinburg. I mentioned that we visited a Sweet Fanny Adams show. We have been to Gatlinburg many times and been to several Sweet Fanny Adams shows. Gatlinburg is essentially a Las Vegas for families. There is a Hard Rock Cafe, a Forest Gump themed restaurant, mini-golf, haunted houses, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, a giant aquarium, go carts, and more. The Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre stands out as you walk down the strip. It does not have flashing neon signs. It doesn't have dazzling flash screen displays. It has class and charm.

Pat and Don MacPherson founded the Sweet Fanny Adams theatre in the 1970's. The couple wrote, produced, and starred in shows while raising their family. Don MacPherson was still starring in shows last summer at age 70. If you watch the video of me performing at Sweet Fanny Adams from 2010, Don MacPherson was the man who helped me put on the woman's dress. He was amazing to watch. His sense of timing was incredible. Don MacPherson was hilarious.

Two months after my 2010 visit, Don MacPherson passed away from head and neck cancer. During our most recent visit, we learned of his passing. It stunned me. I am still thinking about it 3 weeks later. Don MacPherson brought great joy and passion to the stage each night and he will be missed. His son, Chris shared that his Dad's favorite song comes from the Monty Python movie, The Life of Brian. Always look on the bright side of life.

Happy 4th of July!
Just returning from vacation. We visited Greenville, Southt Carolina for a few days. Then, we spent a day in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. While in Gatlinburg, we visited one of my favorite spots - Sweet Fanny Adams. I got pulled up on stage for a skit. Good times. This time, my son and twin daughters got to witness their dad on stage. Very cool.

The last time we visited Gatlinburg, I got pulled up on stage as well. Below is video of me in the role of Momma Olga, the ugliest woman in town. Circa July 2010. Credit: Sweet Fanny Adams. Enjoy.
