WWE Hall of Famer Roddy Piper announced via his official website that he's been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and will begin treatment to battle the disease immediately.

The cancer was found after Piper was hospitalized for the removal of a benign tumor in his back that had been causing Piper tremendous pain. As we noted earlier today, there had been great relief when the tumor was ruled benign, but additional tests found the lymphoma.

Piper, on his official website, commented, "It seems like I have been fighting someone, something, someplace, in some manner, my whole life. But this fight, is one I am gonna win!"

Championship!
Cie Mattis and I had an awesome time in Athens, Ohio. We watched the Ohio Bobcats defeat Akron 17-7. Little Cie rushed the field. It was great to have a father-son evening. It is a night that he will remember for a long - long time. He can be seen (left) celebrating with Ohio Bobcats wide-receiver William Norwood. The Bobcats have clinched their first ever MAC East Division title. The Bobcats face the Miami RedHawks this Saturday. From there...

The Bobcats are bowl bound for the first time in 38 years! Go Bobcats!

The Bantam Rams lost to the Meadowdale Lions 8-0 in the WOJFC Championship game. Congratulations to the Lions! They played a great game. The Bantam Rams finished with an 11-2 record. Cie had an awesome time. He was excited to play on a college field. He was excited to play on turf for the first time. Bottomline, he had fun.

Tonight, is his football banquet. The kids get to eat pizza, have fun, and receive recognition for all of their hard work this past season.

mac standings Sunday November 19, 2006 at 10:00am the Bantam Rams will play the Meadowdale Lions at Welcome Stadium (University of Dayton) in Dayton, Ohio with the WOJFC championship on the line. The Bantam division started out with 42 teams. There are only two remaining.

The 3rd Grade division started play with 33 teams. The 3rd Grade Rams football team has advanced to the championship game. The 3rd Grade team will face the Huber Heights Warriors at 11:30am.

I hope the games stay fun. I hope everyone is able to remember this game is for the kids and not the adults. I have seen both ends of the spectrum this season. After one play a few weeks ago, one opposing team coach cursed multiple obscenities and had to be removed from the field. This past weekend, the opposing team was gracious and wished the our kids luck in the championship game.

Thursday evening, Cie and I will be heading to Athens for the Ohio Bobcats vs. Akron Zips ESPNU football game. The Ohio Bobcats are leading the MAC East with only two games remaining. This will be Cie's first opportunity to see a college football game under the lights with a national TV network on hand. It should be an awesome time.

In his blog on his myspace page, Colt Cabana described his car accident following a recent Dayton, Ohio card. It has been widely reported on the Internet that due to the accident, Cabana's left pinky toe had to be amputated... Breaking news, it was a work. His toe is fine.

Last night, I attended our youth football end of season banquet. It was neat to see 300 family and friends show up to celebrate the season past. It was a challenging season for us.

We started off the year at 0-4. We failed to score even a single point in those four games. We kept our heads up - kept working to improve - we won our final three games of the season.

Following the banquet, one of the parents approached me. As we shook hands, he informed that his son "thinks the world of me". The comments were unecessary - but appreciated. You never know when you are reaching a kid. It is nice to know that my time with the team positively affected at least one kid.

Cie Mattis and the Bantam Rams play at 9:00 am tomorrow morning in Centerville. The temperature at game time is expected to be 20°. This is the playoffs - one loss and the season is over. I just hope the kids stay warm and have fun.

Anyway... With coaching time at an end and Cie's season coming to a close, I hope to get back in the weight room. Must lift weights... must ride bike... must return to the ring...
