Central Ohio Lions "AA" Semi Pro Football National Champions!

Thursday January 8, 2004
Columbus Ohio was cold. Ice cold. Snow started to fall in the mid-afternoon. An inch of snow was expected. The temperature continued to drop. We boarded our plane at 7:30 PM. They de-iced the plane... and we were off. We landed in North Carolina around 9 PM. Our next flight left at 10 PM. We touched down in Palm Beach shortly after midnight. We found our bags. We found our rental car. We drove 2 hours to Miami. We found our hotel. Shortly after 3 AM, we made it to bed.

Friday January 9, 2004
The alarm clock buzzed around 10 AM. After breakfast, I headed to football practice. We strapped on the pads and went full speed. After practice, we (my wife and son) headed south to Key Largo. In Key Largo we visited the beach.

Saturday January 10, 2004
The morning started off with more football practice. Practice was light. No hitting. After practice, we headed to an Alligator farm. We took a ride on a fan-boat (swamp boat) through the Florida Everglades. Back at the farm, we got up close and personal with alligators, snakes, and lizards. After leaving the farm, we stopped at a seafood restraunt. There we dined on alligator meat. Mmmm.

Sunday January 11, 2004
All of the players were anxious to get to the field. This would be a day to remember. We hit the field shortly after noon to start warm-ups. After an eterninty, 2 PM arrived and the game started. Long story short - we won the "AA" Semi-Pro Football National Championship. We savored the moment.

Monday January 12, 2004
Return from Florida. Leave 70 degree weather. Leave beautiful scenery. Return to cold Ohio winter.

The Central Ohio Lions, undefeated champions of the Crossroads Football League will meet the Columbus Xtreme, undefeated champions of the Lakeshore Football League in the MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL NEWS CLASS "AA" National Championship game, Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Harris Field in Homestead, Florida.
