I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Well, I hope everyone survived the day anyway. How is that for optimism?
Mini-Omega and I survived the second round of the Splash N Dash. We each shaved several minutes off of our time. I am beginning to feel more comfortable in the water. If I really work at it I could upgrade from "hey, I think that guy is having a seizure" to "look, that moron is flailing in the water".
This Friday evening, MO and I are signed up for an indoor triathlon at Wright State. An indoor triathlon is an interesting concept. By interesting, I mean really lame. We will swim 250 yards in the pool. Then, we will dry off and change clothes. From there we will head to the workout room and ride stationary bikes 6 miles. After the exhaustion of sitting on a stationary bike, we will saunter over to the treadmills where we will run two miles.
Don't get me wrong; this is a great introduction to triathlons. I guess, the event is not lame. I should be clearer; the event is a cool way to stay active during the winter months. The reality is; I am not so foolish as to believe that by completing an event like this that I am actually a triathlete.
These smaller events are helping to build my confidence. There is a chance that I will attempt a full-fledge outdoor triathlon this summer. So, if I drown in a lake this summer... you know why.
I am blessed to be surrounded with football. I had the opportunity to help a former college football player clean up his highlight tape. You can see the rough cut
here. Tomorrow morning, Mrs. Omega leaves for a business trip. For the second time in three years, she will be assisting with testing at the NFL combine. How cool is that?

I have come to a realization. I have gotten away from posting quasi-amusing stories. I have been using the website to recount recent events in my life. My friends know what I have been doing. I do not have to recount my life on here, because they already know what is going on. On the other hand, a lot of strangers read the website. They could not care less what I did last weekend or the week before. With that in mind, I will try to do a better job of entertaining everyone.
I will spend considerably less time and energy broadcasting the achievements of Mini-Omega. His hard work and dedication will rewarded in due course. This afternoon, Mini-Omega took 2nd place in the Frostbite 5 mile race. Enough said.
Do you know what really grinds my gears?
The Super Bowl is about to kick off. The Cleveland Browns once again failed to make it to the big game. It figures, the usually pathetic Arizona Cardinals are able to turn it around and make it to the Super Bowl. The Browns fired head coach Romeo Crennel and General Manager Phil Savage. Eric Mangini, was fired by the New York Jets, a week later, he was hired by the Browns. What in the double-chocolate fudge is going on?
It is getting harder and harder to watch NFL football. The older I get, the more I realize the NFL is a business. The fun and enthusiasm that make up football at the youth, high school, and college level is completely absent from the NFL.
That really grinds my gears.
