Long time "friend" Cyrus Poe sent me a copy of his new commentary (

I did... with a few editorial changes. He was not fond of my changes. Listen to the voicemail (explicit language) I received -

I grew up watching pro-wrestling. I mainly watched WWF and NWA. But, I was also exposed to World Class Championship Wrestling originating in Texas. A lot of big names passed through World Class. World Class was most notably the home of the Von Erichs. A new movie (documentary) about World Class will be released on DVD next month.

Bears | Team signs UDFA Byrum
Mon, 1 May 2006 17:09:19 -0700
Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports the Chicago Bears have signed undrafted rookie free agent CB Dion Byrum (Ohio University). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

It is difficult to make an NFL team as an undrafted free agent. I sincerely hope
Dion Byrum beats the odds and makes the final Bears roster for the 2006 season.
Every story I have ever heard about him has been positive. Mini-Mattis has an Ohio Bobcats
#15 jersey. Mini-Mattis can tell you that
Dion Byrum returned 2 INT for touchdowns against Pitt. Mini-Mattis is a big fan.
Last week, after running in the Gridiron Gallop 5k, Mini-Mattis had a chance to meet
Dion Byrum. Byrum was gracious and friendly to Mini-Mattis despite the fact that he was in the MIDDLE of an NFL tryout for Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith.
It would have been COMPLETELY understandable for him to say, "Sorry, I am busy right now."
But,
Dion Byrum didn't do that. He took the time to chat with Mini-Mattis and take a photo.
Dion Byrum is a class act.
Some notable undrafted free agents over the years:
Willie Parker, Priest Holmes, Rod Smith, Kurt Warner, Jeff Garcia, Wayne Chrebet, Oronde Gadsmen, David Patten, Dominic Rhodes, Mack Strong, James "Big Cat" Williams, Derrick Deese, Jeff Saturday, Matt Lepsis, London Fletcher, Hollis Thomas, Sammy Knight, Willie Whitehead, Pat Williams, Adam Vinatieri, Olindo Mare, Ray Seals, James Harrison, and Steve Largent.

The post-draft scramble By Pat Kirwan NFL.com Senior Analyst
(May 2, 2006) -- I was talking with a general manager as the draft was coming to an end on Sunday and he only had two minutes to talk because he had to hurry back to his desk to get all the undrafted rookies signed as soon as possible. For the record, his team signed 15 players in under five hours for a total signing bonus of $45,000. Why would a GM or a head coach be so interested in inexperienced players who weren't even selected as one of the 255 selections? Because any football person will tell you that close to 20 percent of the NFL is made up of non-drafted players. Imagine getting 15 players captured for an average of $3,000 each and a chance one of them might be the next Priest Holmes!
