Cleveland Browns center LeCharles Bentley, expected to anchor an improved offensive line, suffered what appeared to be a serious injury to his left knee during the first team drill of the day on Thursday in Berea.
Bentley went down in pain and could not put any weight on the leg. Trainers immobilized the leg with an air cast and he was taken from the field on a cart.
Preliminary word is that it could be an injury to the patella tendon. Bentley was taken to the Cleveland Clinic immediately and was to undergo an MRI to determine the exact extent of the injury.
Bentley was signed in the off-season as a free agent after earning Pro Bowl honors for the New Orleans Saints. He is a native Clevelander, having starred at St. Ignatius High School and Ohio State. (
