Last week, I did the Miami Triathlon with a 400 meter swim, 13 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. It took me 1-hour and 44-minutes. In total, I covered 16.35 miles. I felt ok after this event.
The Bellbrook Triathlon featured a 5.5 mile canoe trip, 5.6 mile run, and a 16 mile bike ride. It took me 3-hours and 11-minutes to finish the race. In total, I covered 27.1 miles.
I have been canoeing plenty of times. It was fun and easy. I have never raced in a canoe. My back muscles were fried by the time we finished the canoe portion. Plus, I was soaked from crashing hard, cracking the boat, and being thrown from the canoe because of a submerged tree. I was wet and stiff by the time we finished the canoe trip.
I have never previously run 5.6 miles. Honestly, I have only run more than 3.5 miles a handful of times in my life. I set my expectations low for the run. I ran a 10:25 mile pace and finished the run in just under an hour. I was really starting to get tired. The fuel tank was nearing empty.
The bike portion was last. I felt decent as I started out on the bike. About 7 miles into the ride, I didn't think I was going to be able to finish. I was so weak and tired that I was struggling to hold myself up on the bike. The tank was completely empty. I have never went this hard for this long.

Entertainer Jamie Foxx (40-year-old) said teenage popstar Miley Cyrus (15-year-old) is a "little White b*tch who should go do some heroin and make a sex tape." ... Gosh, Jamie is funny and certainly not racist.
I wonder if Don Imus had called the Rutgers womens basketball team a bunch of "little Black b*tches who should go do some heroin and make sex tapes." ... I wonder if Imus could have laughed his way through an apology on The Tonight Show and that been the end of it? What do you think? I am sure the Rutger's players would have had a good laugh and all would have been forgiven.
In other news, last week on MSNBC news, actress Janeane Garofalo said of the Tea Parties, "This is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks. Republicans, conservatives... it has become synonymous with the white power movement. The Black people there have stockholm syndrome. This is racism." ... Sexual reference, racial slur, and so on... a bit of hate speech. Here is a great commentary

The boy and I swam a mile this morning. I do not mean that figuratively. I am being quite literal. I swam a mile. In case you are curious, a mile is 1760 yards. We swam 71 laps. It took an hour. I am tired. In the morning, my son is running a 10k with my wife. I plan to lie on the couch.

I found time before class last night to swim about 1,000 yards at the pool. Today, I after I finish a class project, I am going to take the kids on a 20+ mile mountain bike ride. We will get some lunch, ice cream and fun time.

I am bogged down, big time. I am putting my morning workouts on hiatus. I am spending (nearly) every waking moment studying, and it is only the first week of class. I have a quiz at 4:30 today. I have another quiz on Wednesday night. Alot of reading. Alot of papers.

Spring quarter classes started on Monday. I am taking 3 classes this quarter. All three classes are going to be intense. I am not sure I can pull this off.
I am high school strength & conditioning coach. We have some awesome stuff going on right now. One 170 lb. freshman had a 1-rep max on squats of 185 lbs. during football season. This past week, he squatted 325 for 6 reps. His strength/power is exploding through the roof. We have another kid, a lineman, that has lost about 20 lbs. of fat and gained some solid muscle in the past 3 months. The kids that stick with it are seeing some amazing results.

The U.S. Government now dictates which auto plants stay open, what models are manufactured, and who oversees the board of directors. And so goes the slippery slope toward socialism.
In a similar vein, government healthcare will destroy a lot of jobs and companies. My wife works in healthcare. Medicare is government healthcare. Her companies goal is to lose only 2.5% on Medicare patients. That means, for every $100 of expenses the company incures working with Medicare patients, they receive $97.50 in reimbursement.
The more folks receiving government funded healthcare will mean greater losses for healthcare companies. Eventually, the losses outweigh the profits. Eventually, the company goes out of business or the government steps in to "bail out" the industry that cannot run itself...
