Mini-Mattis and I ran a 5k this past weekend - click here for the dirty details. That reminds me - the Ohio University Bobcats will hold a couple of summer football camps for high school players - click here.

A new exercise related commentary is online - click here. I just got back from lunch. I had a 12" chicken breast sub from Subway. I ordered a "value meal" with water instead of soda. It cost $.25 more to get WATER than if I would have ordered a Coke. What The Fudge? Water costs more than soda?

My vacation with Mini-Omega was fantastic. On Wednesday, we attended an Ohio University baseball game. The Youngstown State Penguins and Ohio Bobcats battled... It was a pitching nightmare. It took an hour and 20-minutes to play the first 2 innings.

Going to the top of the third, the score stood Penguins 4 and Bobcats 11. Between the two teams there were 3 errors and roughly 6 walks. I think a total of 12 or 13 pitchers took the mound. It was gruesome.

Anyway, as the temperature dropped, the bats slowed ever so slightly and the game progressed. The final score: Bobcats 13 Penguins 11. Mini-Omega refused to leave prior to the final out despite the fact that he lacked a sweatshirt/coat and it was 45 degrees.

On Thursday, we headed uptown to the bookstore. We bought t-shirts, hats, and whatnot. We watched an Ohio University spring football practice. Head Coach Frank Solich paced the field as his position coaches worked in individual drills. Mini-Omega and I moved from drill to drill taking listening to coaching points from each phase of the game.

After football practice, we headed to the aquatic center. We spent an hour and a half in the pool swimming and playing around. Mini-Omega was still going strong... but I had to tap out.

On Friday, we did a bit more shopping and walking on campus. Then, we watched the women's Lacrosse team play Davidson. It was a good old-fashioned butt whooping. Ohio lead 8-2 at halftime. The final score was 16-7.

From there it was back to the "real" world. On Saturday, Mini-Omega had an indoor soccer game. Following the soccer game, he headed to a birthday party. After the birthday party, a friend came over to spend the night. Sunday was no less hectic.

On Sunday, we played a bit of 4-on-4 football. Mini-Mattis jammed his thumb early on in the game. On Monday the thumb turned purple. My wife took him to the emergency room for x-rays. He will most likely get referred to a hand specialist. Oh, the joys of parenthood.
