I tri ... or is it more cool to say, "iTri"?
2009.07.08
Last month, at Deer Creek, the swim nearly killed me. I was completely mentally defeated by the time I finished the swim. I have not had much of a chance to swim since then.

On Sunday, we competed in the Caesars Creek Triathlon. I was completely relaxed in the water. I was able to freestyle the entire (near) half-mile. I felt great jogging up the bank to my bike. I actually prayed during the swim to thank God. The ease of the swim was a blessing.

A year ago, I was completely winded swimming from one end of the pool to the other (25 yards). On Sunday, I swam 750 yards and felt really good getting out of the water. That is simply amazing.

My triathlon experience nearly ended about a mile into the bike ride. I had quickly gained ground on a fellow rider. I had to get over to the left to pass him. As I moved left, an S-10 pick-up truck passed me. The truck missed hitting me by only about two feet. I quickly swerved right... into the very wet grass and steep embankment. Through the grace of God, I was able to get the bike back on the road. I should have crashed badly in the grass. I should have slid down the hill with my bike flipping over top of me.

I am blessed to have not been hit by that truck. I am equally blessed that I did not crash down the wet/steep embankment.

Cie finished up his regular baseball season. He is now playing in tournaments with a select team. The video features his pitching highlights set to the Aqua Teen Hunger Force intro theme. He had some great opportunities this past season. He did very well.

This is an especially busy series of weeks for us. Here is what this week looks like for our young lion:
Monday: baseball practice
Tuesday: swim meet
Wednesday: ORRRC trail series 5k
Thursday: swim meet
Friday: baseball tournament
Saturday: Ratt Race 5k, baseball tournament
Sunday: Fit To Fight Triathlon, baseball tournament

He also lifts weights 3 times per week and has swim practice 5 times per week. It is hard for me to keep up with him.
