On Wednesday, the boy ran in a 5k at George Rogers Clark Park in Springfield, Ohio. He placed 2nd in his age group. There were only three kids in MO's age group. MO still had a lot of gas in the tank when he finished which is good and bad. Ehhh... I am proud of him.
It says a lot that he was out in the rain running while other kids were at home watching TV. He is doing great. The video to the right is footage from before, during, and after the race.
On to the title of this commentary...
We live in a small town. The girls in our small town take the process of finding a mate very seriously. My son is 9 years old. He is in third grade. For most of the year he has been telling about the various boys and girls that are "going out". MO (Mini-Omega) has been able to ward off the female suitors fairly well, until now. One little girl, we will call her... Susie... has been gently following MO all year. MO is friendly with Susie, but that is all. He wants to play football at recess not talk to girls.
Well, Janet and Jim have been "going out" for a couple of weeks. Jim decided he has had enough of this game and broke things off. Jim suggests that Janet pursue MO. She obliges. MO agrees to "go out" with Janet. Susie is not pleased. Susie has been biding her time trying to wear MO down. Susie puts pressure on MO to reconsider his decision to "go out" with Janet.
Mindy is best friends with Janet. Mindy saw MO in the hall. Mindy grabbed MO by the throat and shoved him to the wall. Her instructions were clear, "Go out with Janet or I will kill you."
Ahhhh love is in the air.
Good times. Good times.
