Team 3D vs. The Motor City Machineguns

As I look at the line up for this Sunday's Genesis PPV, the matches I am most looking forward too are the matches that are receiving the least amount of hype. As far as I am concerned, "The Motor City Machineguns" (Alex Shelley/Chris Sabin) are the future of pro-wrestling. They work very well together as a tag-team. I am not excited about them facing "Team 3D". But, everything MCMGs do is golden.

Likewise, I look forward to Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode. Joe is always spectacular. Roode is a throwback. Roode is a great old school wrestler. This match really has the chance to elevate Roode.

Kaz has been on fire since leaving Serotonin. Kaz and Christian Cage could steal the show. Fans are starting to really get behind Kaz. I hope this match is even better than their match from iMPACT.

Finally, I am looking forward to "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. "The Guru" Sonjay Dutt. Sonjay Dutt screams 'heel' to me. People just do not respond to him as a face. Sonjay is unbelievably athletic. Sonjay has an amazing move set. Jay Lethal is fantastic. These two have great chemistry. Dutt vs. Lethal could blow the roof off of the iMPACT Zone.

I will finish by saying; I am intrigued to find out who is Sting's mystery partner. I would be disappointed if it is Paul "Big Show" Wight. I will be content with Booker T. I would jump through the rafters if Rob VanDam showed up to steal the Whole F'N Show.

Moving on...

"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Relax fella, you need a rest, guy."
Dr. Clancy Hardman agreed to race Mini-Mattis on Sunday. The workout is 20 reps in 20 minutes. The workout features a 30+ former college athlete taking on an 8 year old in 20-yard sprints. The 20 yards are extremely vertical. We run up hill. To be more specific, we run up the side of a highway overpass. It is impossible to drive a car, motorcycle or bike up this hill.

As we started, Clancy made it look easy. Clancy made it to the top in about 6 seconds. The first repetition took Mini-Mattis just over 12-seconds. Clancy continued to dominate for reps two, three, four, and five. On rep six, Clancy slowed to about 9 seconds to complete the rep. By this time, Mini-Mattis was getting up to speed. Mini-Mattis completed rep six in about 10-seconds.

On rep seven, things took a turn. Clancy slowed to a 10-second rep and tied with Mini-Mattis. On rep eight, Mini-Mattis got his time down to 9 seconds and Clancy climbed to 11 seconds. This trend would continue over the next few reps. Clancy was getting slower and Mini-Mattis was getting faster.

Repetition eleven put Clancy around 15 seconds and Mini-Mattis around 8 seconds. At this point, Clancy dropped out of the workout. Mini-Mattis finished his 20 reps and asked if we could do more.

Clancy made an angry fist with one hand and pointed at the hill with his other hand. Clancy swore vengeance. To quote Clancy, "I will be back."

Moving on...

Mini-Mattis often asks about my 5:00 am workouts. On many occasions, he has asked to join us. I have always said no. On Tuesday night, I invited Mini-Mattis to join us for the 5:00 am chest workout. Mini-Mattis accepted the invitation.

On Wednesday morning, around 4:50 am, I nudged Mini-Mattis and asked him if he still wanted to lift weights. By no means going to force my 8-year-old son to lift weights at 5:00 am. I was slightly surprised to see him pop out of bed and get dressed.

On Wednesday morning, Mini-Mattis did the complete chest workout with us. I didn't let him use much weight. I forced him to focus on form. He had fun and did a decent job of staying on task.

On Thursday night, Mini-Mattis asked if he could join our Friday morning workout. After some persistent probing, I agreed. Once again this morning, Mini-Mattis was out of bed by 4:55 am. He stayed on task. He did the same lifts we did. He had fun.

I was relaying this story to a friend. My friend made the comment, and he is probably right, "I bet there was not another 8 year old in the state of Ohio that was lifting weights at 5:00 am this morning. Beyond Ohio, I would say no kid in the Midwest portion of the United States was lifting weights before 6:00 am. Never mind that he has done that twice this week. Jeez."
