I accept your challenge

2007.04.09
victory On Monday or Tuesday of last week, I received an email from a friend. I was told that the most recent online broadcast of BreakinKayfabe had mentioned me several times. I was challenged to show up and face IWA US Champion Chris Cruit.

Thursday evening, in Chillicothe Ohio, I returned to the wrestling ring. It has been several years since I set foot in "The Backstage". The last time I wrestled in Chillicothe was as part of IWA's Night of Champions II.

A lot of the names and faces in the locker room have changed over the years. I can remember my first appearance at "The Backstage" wrestling against Al B. Damm. I was still relatively new to wrestling. I had only been in the business for maybe two years. We went out there with 100 "flippy" spots and tried to steal the show. I watched the older guys go out to the ring and stick to armbars and wristlocks.

Now, I am one of the old guys. I sat in the back and watched as the cruiserweights put on 100 "flippy" spots as they delivered a match that really got the crowd going.

After an eight-month layoff, I was finally back in the ring. My move set pretty much consisted of... chops, forearm shots, clotheslines, back elbow, and a wristlock. The crowd seemed to enjoy it. To view some of the highlights from the match - click here.

It wasn't pretty - but it got the job done. It doesn't matter what moves you do - it does matter how you do the moves.

Anyway...

On Friday, Mini-Mattis and I spent some time in Athens. We watched a spring football practice. They scrimmaged on Friday. So, we got to see some good contact.

Over the weekend, I picked up a couple of wrestling DVDs. I purchased the AWA DVD and the TNA Genesis DVD. I have to say that TNA is growing on me. I DVR TNA Impact every week. I like the wrestlers. I like the matches. Good stuff.

Mini-Mattis picked up a TNA Six-Sides of Steel ring as well as Christian Cage and Alex Shelley figures. I am trying to steer him clear of WWE stuff. Heck, for that matter, I would like to keep him away from wrestling in general. But, I don't see that happening.
