Last weekend, Mini-Omega's wee Rams team opened the season the road. Mini-Omega served as one of the team captains. Mini-Omega received extended time at outside and middle linebacker. Mini-Omega made several tackles. Offensively, Mini-Omega did a great job blocking from his tight end spot. The wee Rams rolled to victory despite monsoon like conditions in the 3rd quarter.
This weekend, I coach with the 5th/6th grade team. The 'varsity' Rams play against Catholic Central of Springfield. Last week, the 'varsity' Rams scrimmaged the Catholic Central Irish. Each team got 10 plays of offense and then there was 1 (continuous clock) 8-minute quarter of live play. The Rams did not look good. The Irish managed a touchdown against our 3rd team defense. So, there is concern among some coming into this game.
We knew we were going to turn around and play these guys in a real game this week. Defensively, we stayed in our prevent defense the whole time. We didn't even show our base defense let alone any of the shifts or stunts. Offensively, we stuck with the basics. This week it counts. This week, the Irish will see our true defense. This week we will unleash the offense.
The (high school) Rams play a big game this evening. This is a very winnable game. Mini-Mattis and I plan to attend the game and cheer our hometown team to victory.
On Saturday, the
Ohio Bobcats open the season at home against 1AA Tennessee-Martin. The Bobcats return 17 starters from last season, eight on offense and nine on defense. The Bobcats had better win this game. That is all I am going to say.
This weekend NFL teams have to make final cuts to get their rosters down to 53. The Browns could keep 75 players for the full season and it would not make a difference. The Browns offense is going to be awful. Finishing the season with a 7-9 record would be an achievement.
