A while back Cyrus and I had an idea for a Faberville episode. Well, I had an idea. Cyrus was kind enough not to pee on my idea. I am the idea guy. He is the pee guy. Cyrus could potentially refute this on his
myspace site... but he is probably too lazy.
Well, after I (by myself) developed this fabulous idea - I went about setting up a shooting date, location, time and contacting performers to appear. You have to give everyone a couple of weeks notice. Cyrus was too busy complaining to help set things up... typical.
Anyway, we were giddy with anticipation. Then, on a fateful Wednesday evening a new episode of South Park aired. The episode featured Tom Cruise in a closet. Tom Cruise refused to come out of the closet. It was hilarious.
Unfortunately for us, it was almost identical to what we planned to shoot. We have no desire to be called copycats i.e. "SimpsonŐs did it". Thus the shoot was cancelled. Trey Parker and Matt Stone foiled Faberville. A curse on them!
Flash forward...
A few weeks ago, I had another awe-inspiring concept. Cyrus peed on the first version. He peed on the second version. He finally stopped whining around the third version.
We decided to do a thumb wrestling short. The characters would have hairpieces, glued on eyes & mouths. They would even wear little spandex outfits and everything.
I will give credit where credit is due. The whiny little girl (aka Cyrus) did a fantastic job creating the characters and hand crafting a ring. The plan was for us to get together in another week or so and shoot the movie.
On Saturday afternoon, Cyrus called me to say that NickToons is running commercials to promote short thumb wrestling matches at the top of each hour starting tonight. Their characters have fake hair and glued on eyes. Curses!
What are the odds of a major network covering thumb wrestling? I mean... come on! When was the last time any show featured thumb wrestling?
So, once again we come up with a good idea only to see it prominently displayed on national TV before we film our own version.
In anguish.
