To keep everyone up-to-speed, here are some new photos... I am carrying more cheese than I please... I have lost a few pounds. I am down to about 235lbs. now.
This past weekend was rough going - I didn't eat well at all. On Sunday, I was too tired to ride the bike or lift. It was an extremely taxing weekend.
On Saturday, Mini-Omega awoke with a fever. He was didn't feel well at all. We gave him some Motrin and told him to "suck it up". He had a big day ahead of him. There was no time for that ah-huh-sick-bull-stuft. The Motrin began to kick-in. Little man started moving a little bit better.
Mini-Mattis had an 11:30 AM basketball game. It was the final game of the season. He didn't want to miss his final game. The Lions put on a display throughout the game. It went beyond being fun. It got to the point that some of us started to really root for the other team. The Lions won the game 31-0. Mini-Mattis scored a couple of points, produced several big steals and rebounds. Mini-Mattis played lights-out defense all season. I don't think he gave up a basket all season. He had a great time in his final basketball game.
The medicine wore off by the time we left the gym. Mini-Mattis crashed at lunch. He fell asleep at the restaurant. After forcing down a 1/2 of a grilled cheese sandwich, Mini-Mattis took some more medicine.
We left lunch and headed to the local YMCA. It was time for Mini-Omega's birthday party. About 25 friends from his football and basketball team showed up to celebrate. The 25+ parents mostly sat around and chatted as the kids played in the pool. I got in the water and played with the kids... and tried to keep an eye on everyone. (There was a lifeguard at poolside as well.)
We were in the pool for right at 2 hours. We got out of the pool as pizza arrived. Nine pizzas later it was time for cake. After cake and presents, it was time to disband the party. We must have had a good main event. We left the fans wanting more... A couple of kids broke into tears complaining that they didn't want to leave. They wanted to get back in the pool. They wanted to keep playing. I think the kids were way more tired than they realized.
We cleaned up and headed home. Mini-Mattis then opened presents with Grandma and Grandpa. He received so many gifts that there is no way will ever fully appreciate what he has.
Little man went to bed at about 9PM. My wife and I finally got to watch "War of the Worlds". It was... ehh. I was too wiped out to really enjoy it. Plus, there were so many plot holes.
On Sunday, I could barely get out of bed. I was so sore and so stiff that I could hardly move. At 30-years-old, I feel like an old man.
Today is Mini's actual birthday. My wife is taking a snack to his classroom this afternoon. Tonight is his end of season basketball banquet.
It has been a very whirlwind few days. Fortunately, Mini is now feeling better. Fortunately, the medicine kicked in and he felt well during his party.
I really did have a great time this past weekend. It was wonderful. It was great that little man got to share his birthday with so many of his friends.
It looks like I will be working with a football team on a limited basis this fall. I cannot commit 6 days per week to the high school team. But, I should be able to spare a few evenings to work with kids.
