The difference between wrestling and coaching...
With wrestling, I spent countless hours on the road to perform for 10-minutes in front of complete strangers.
With coaching, I spend countless hours helping athletes reach their potential. This morning, I received this email from the father of a young man I am training:
"He loves working out with you. It has made a big difference in him in many ways. You have become more than a coach to him. You are more like a big brother figure someone other than the old man he can talk to and seek advise from. You have helped his confidence and motivation as well."
"Just so you know, kids [other players] have seen such a difference [in his performance] ... they are asking what he has been doing in the off season. [They] are now asking if they can work with you guys..."
I have been working one-on-one, 3-times per week, for 4-months with his son.
In addition to working with him, we have a couple of young girls learning basic gymnastics and tumbling. This past week we were contacted by the parents of a junior high aged boy - they want their son to begin training with us as well.
The excitement of these parents and kids is more rewarding than anything I have done in the ring.
