A couple of weeks ago, Mini-Omega had his first basketball game. After an hour, the final score was 8-4. It was a painful experience to watch. I knew the kids were capable of much better. I had no idea how MUCH better.

On Saturday afternoon, the (1st & 2nd grade boys) Lions basketball team roared a mighty... well... roar. It was a much more watch able game. The kids are gaining some valuable experience. They are starting to find their groove.

I do not know the final score. The scores are not posted. But, I believe the score was roughly 40-12 in favor of the Lions. I do know that Mini-Omega scored 8 points and secured several rebounds. One of the 6-year-olds poured in about 20-points. It was crazy.

I am currently in the midst of my longest break from coaching in the past few years. I coached football pretty much non-stop for the past couple of years. I also coached youth wrestling. I am still coaching/weight training three times per week. But, that is much less of a time commitment. I guess the best way to say it is... I have more free time now than I have had in years.

One of the things I am realizing is that over the past couple of years I have expended a great deal of energy helping others hone their skills and become better athletes. My attention has been focused on developing strength and speed of others. As a result MY strength, speed and overall health has suffered.

Don't get me wrong, I continued to workout several times per week. But, the workouts have lacked intensity. I have not eaten properly. I have not gotten enough rest/allowed my body to recover. Mentally, I am drained.

Last year, I took 3-days of vacation. We attended a Sizzle football practice in the morning before leaving for vacation. Immediately upon returning from vacation, we were back at practice and work. I worked 40-hours per week at a 'real' job and then coached another 20+ hours per week while piling thousands upon thousands of miles on my car.

I am now paying more attention to my diet. I am getting slightly more rest. I am lifting with a bit more intensity. It will take some time to correct the 2 years of neglect my body has suffered.

From the world of pro-wrestling - I have been in contact with three promoters in the past few weeks. I appreciate the invitations and opportunities, but I am not mentally or physically prepared to commit to stressors of indy wrestling.
