Mini-Omega
Mini-Omega wants to play FB in a triple option offense. Those are his words - not mine. He spends his free-time diagraming plays with crayons.

I am not a fan of the NBA. I don't watch NCAA basketball. I just don't find basketball very interesting. Nonetheless, I fully support Mini-Omega in his decision to play basketball this winter.

Mini-Omega is 6-years-old. He had 1 practice and then a few days later played a 1-hour game. Wow.

It was down right painful to watch these kids play. Fortunately, the officials didn't call many fouls. The kids were forced to retreat immediately after the opposing team gets a rebound. The basket has been lowered to 7-feet. The league is designed in a way that keeps games moving. But, with that in mind... the final score was very telling...

Final:
Lions 4
Lakers 8

There were a grand total of 6 baskets in 60-minutes. That averages out to one basket every ten-minutes. Ugh. Brutal.

Now, I know there are those out there that will say, "They are only 6. What did you expect?"

I have seen many of these same 6-year-olds play 11-on-11, full contact football. They knew the snap count. They knew whom to block. They ran dive, lead, sweep, qb naked boot, and passed the ball. There were some phenom plays throughout the season.

After seeing the kids work as a team in football season. This first basketball looked like an absolute train wreck. I am hoping things get better with this weekends game.

I resigned from my position as offensive coordinator for the (NWFA) Cincinnati Sizzle. In 2-years with the Sizzle, I coached offensive line, defensive line and served as special teams coordinator in 2004. In 2005, I served as offensive coordinator. I helped build an offensive line that allowed only 1 sack in the 2005 season. I helped build an offense that won 34-16 over a team that is 15-1 in the past two seasons. The team is poised to take the next step this season. I would have loved to remain with the team this season to continue the building process.

However, my wife is pregnant with twin girls. She is due in late August. There are a lot of things that need to be done around the house. The spare bedroom will be completely redone. The second bathroom will be redone. I promised Mini-Omega that he would get to play baseball this year. I want to take a couple of special trips with Mini-Omega before the twins arrive.

I cannot put my interests over those of my family. I may 'want' to coach. But, I 'need' to be with my family.
