Like a dolphin caught in a tuna net

Rhetorical question: What happens with a (high school) division III perennial playoff participant faces a division IV program that has not had a winning record since 1996?

We were like dolphins caught in a tuna net. The fishermen do not want to kill dolphins. Dolphins are accidentally killed while trying to catch tuna. On Friday night, Big Walnut did not WANT to kill us. They did everything in their power to soften the blow. But, their kindness did not change the end result - they killed us. Aside from getting waxed in front of 11,000 fans... it was a great weekend.

Most our weekends are jam-packed with activity. This weekend, we did not rush. We did not scramble. We were able to relax and have a good time.

family putt-putt trip On Saturday, I started the day with 9 AM football practice. I was home by noon. We spent the rest of the day doing stuff around the house. We lifted weights. We went for a run. I played baseball in the yard with Mini-Omega for a couple of hours.

Sunday was filled with more of the same. We went for a run. Mini-Omega FINALLY started to ride his bike without training wheels. We live in a rural area. He has never had a desire to ride a bike. We finally forced the issue this weekend. He discovered he likes riding a bike. And there was much rejoicing...

As a reward for riding so well, we went bowling. I have no clue why he is fascinated with bowling. We are very poor bowlers. After bowling we watched a movie.

On Monday, I started the day with 8:30 AM football practice. I left the practice field around 11 AM and headed to Young's Dairy. I spent some time in the batting cage. I was able to hit 11 out of 12 80-mph pitches. I really got a hold of about half of the pitches. It felt great.

Mini-Omega swings the lumber in the slow pitch softball cage. He continues to make solid contact. I am not going to let him in 30-mph cage for a couple more years.

We enjoyed 18-holes of miniature golf. After being in the hot sun, we enjoyed some ice cream. Good times.

Once we got home, I fired up the grill and made dinner. We spent the evening riding bikes, playing baseball and lifting weights.
