It has been an incredible week of extreme highs and painful lows. We have been from one end of the spectrum to the other and back again. I will try to stay focused on the good...
Two weeks ago, I bought a new car. This past week, my wife bought a new car. We both drive a lot of miles. We were each driving 2002 model cars. We each had surpassed the 100,000-mile marker. It was time.
On Monday (Aug. 8th), 2-a-days started for the local high school. It is a tremendous pleasure to be teaching the game of football to high school athletes. I can't wait for our first Friday night under the lights. I am fulfilling a lifelong dream.
On Saturday (Aug. 13th), the Cincinnati Sizzle held their end of season banquet. It was nice to see the players again. But, the part that will stand out to me for a long time to come... the players gave me a standing ovation. That meant a great deal to me. It is one thing to have the respect of my peers. I appreciated the kind words of Head Coach Ickey Woods. It is equally or more meaningful that I have the respect of the players who played under my leadership for the past 2 years.
On Sunday (Aug. 14th), we visited the batting cages and played putt-putt. Mini-Omega is now making good contact in the slow pitch softball cage. My wife did well in the 35-40 mph cage. I held my own in the 80 mph cage. At putt-putt, Mini-Omega was the only one to hit a hole in one.
Looking ahead, this Friday night the high school football team hits the road for a scrimmage. On Sunday, Mini-Omega's peewee team plays their first game of the season.
