2005.06.07.
It was a good weekend. Saturday's football practice felt productive. We continue to emphasize the importance of details. It is all about the details. We have to learn to do the little things right. If we do the little things right - the big things will take care of themselves. But, enough of that...

On Sunday we ignored the large piles of laundry and lengthy grass. We went on a 6-mile canoe trip with about twenty players and coaches. There were some adult beverages shared. There was some Tarzan-eske rope-swinging river jumps. A good time was had by all. It was a nice chance to break away from the stress of coaching to just be considered a peer.

As of today there are; 4 practices, 2 film sessions, and 2 games remaining in the Sizzle season. I feel like Union KingPin Homer Simpson did after Mr. Burns forced to him to resign. He laid on the ground - spinning in circles - making undistinguishable sounds of enjoyment. Do not get me wrong. I enjoy coaching. I enjoy working with the team. But, I am ready to close the books on this season. (Here is a prime example of why...)

This weekend the team travels to Washington DC to face the unbeaten DC Divas. Last season the Divas went undefeated in the regular season and lost in the conference championship game to the Detroit Demolition. Detroit went on to win the league championship. The Divas have not lost a game to anyone aside from Detroit in over 2 years.

Parity is NOT alive and well in the NWFA. The NWFA plans to address the lack of parity during the offseason. I hope they are successful. Placing players with 2 months of practice experience and 1 or 2 actual games played against 3 and 4-year veterans is a recipe for disaster. I digress...

So, this weekend we will leave Columbus around 4 PM and arrive in Washington DC probably around midnight. We will sleep until maybe 8 AM. Then, we will get up and head to the field. We have a 10 AM walk through scheduled. After the walk through, we will head back to the hotel for some rest. At this point, we will hopefully get to hangout with some friends we have in the DC Metro area. We will be back at the stadium by 4 or 5 PM. Kickoff is at 7 PM. The game will end by 10 PM. We will be out of the stadium by 11 PM. We will try to get to bed by 2 AM.

We will awake around 9 AM on Sunday morning pack up and hit the road. We hope to be back in Columbus by early Sunday (7 or 8 PM) evening.

Good times... 4 practices, 2 film sessions, and 2 games remaining...
