Football practice on Saturday was uneventful. We added some new wrinkles to the offense. We worked to maintain our timing. Practice is as practice does.
The Central Ohio Lions are 5 - 0. We have cut through most of our opponents with tremendous ease.
This Saturday will be different. This Saturday is going to be an all out, knockdown, drag out, leave the women and children at home brawl. Our opponent, the South Bend Stampede is 5 - 0. They have played everyone we have played. They have beaten everyone we have beaten. They have posted similar if not better scores than us. They won the league last year. They want to repeat.
The winner of this game will all but secure home field advantage in the playoffs. Both teams have been talking trash for the past several weeks. We are only a few days away from the big clash.
It is a 6 hour drive from Washington CH, Ohio to South Bend, Indiana. It is a long drive. If we lose, it is going to be a REALLY long drive home.
I love football. I am enjoying this last blast of unadulterated brutality. But, the long season is taking its toll on me. We started weekly practices in early April. We have practiced or played a game every weekend (except 2) since April. I am tired.
These 2 weeks off have reminded me how precious free time on the weekends truly is. Time to suck it up... It is crunch time. Now more than ever, the games count. It all starts this Saturday.
While I am thinking of it... I have wrestled 2 weekends in a row. My body is holding up well thus far. I am fortunate to have wrestled Aaron Andrews for the past two weeks. He is very athletic. He is very experienced. He is allowing me to return to action at my own pace. I appreciate his effort.
Because of the long (football) road trip this weekend, I will NOT be wrestling. My next in ring appearance is scheduled for September 18th, at The Backstage in Chillicothe Ohio. Chillicothe is one of my favorite places to wrestle. I can't wait to be there again in a little more than 1 week.
Yardbird... salute!
