We once again reach Memorial Day weekend. The first 3-day weekend of spring time. Millions of people will be on the road visiting friends and relatives. Millions of folks will indulge in alcoholic beverages. By Tuesday morning, there will be a few hundred nationwide fatalities. That is a frightening thought. As I type this, there are people gearing up for big weekend parties. They want to have fun. They want to enjoy themselves. They are living life to its fullest without a care in the world. But, by Tuesday some of those people will be dead.
This is a perfect weekend to practice defensive driving. Just because you sober, doesn't mean the driver of the car coming head-on toward you is too. Be smart. Be safe. Stay alert.
On a less gruesome note... Last year during Memorial Day weekend, my family made the trek to Washington D.C. to spend the time with friends. We rode the Metro. We visited the Smithsonian Museum and many of the monuments. This year, our friends are coming to visit us and see our new home. It should be a fun weekend. It will be nice to sit back and relax for once.
Wrestling thoughts...
I watched part of Raw. I actually watched the show until it went off the air. Ric Flair vs. HHH was enough of a hook to keep me glued to the TV set. I saw Ric's passionate promo. I heard the fans go nuts for "The Nature Boy". Somewhere deep down inside, I hoped Ric Flair would beat HHH. The match was decent. The crowd was solidly behind Ric. I enjoyed the match. For the long-term benefit of the company, it is probably best to keep the title on HHH. I didn't especially care for the ending of the match. Kevin Nash coming out to the ring to "save" Ric Flair was supposed to get a big pop. Instead, the audience in attendance sat quietly and many of us at home let out loud and prolonged groans.
I give WWE credit for trying to build programs and storylines. But, are fans really popping for Kevin Nash? I mean, seriously is Kevin Nash getting the largest face pop on the roster? Is he even in the top 5? Despite WWE's efforts to devalue RVD, he is still hella-over. RVD deserves a better program. Booker T. deserves a better program. The Hurricane deserves a good program.
The is talent is over. They are ready. The crowd loves them. But, the talent continues to be ignored and depushed. My complaining about it isn't going to change anything... So, WWE keep the up the good work! Your gate receipts are in the crapper, keep flushing! I am sure can sink lower.
Physical Therapy
As frequent readers know, I tore my hamstring in late April. I started physical therapy last week. It has been an exhausting process. I still have a ways to go. I will do whatever is necessary to be 100%. I am not afraid of hard work. These therapy sessions are draining me physically and emotionally. My therapy sessions are lasting between 2 and 3 hours. It makes for a long day.
On the upside, I should be able to start practicing again in a week or two. There is scrimmage June 7th that I would like to participate in. It looks like a good possibility that I will be ready by then.
That is all for now.
