I stopped watching WWE almost 2 months ago. The shows (Raw and Smackdown) completely sickened me. I couldn't stand it any more. So, I tuned out. I have not turned it on since.
I will admit, I am a traditionalist. I am very "old school". I would prefer to watch matches from 1950 through 1990. Most of what has transpired in the past decade I would describe as "total horse poop". I hated Vince Russo's "crash TV" sports entertainment programming.
A promotion in central Ohio (FIW) is gearing up for a big event. As it currently stands, the main event of the card will feature what I consider to be "total horse poop".
The heavyweight champion -
Shank Dorsey is a tremendous wrestler. He has an incredible threshold for pain. Shank made quite a name for himself in this territory as a hardcore icon. His face and body are covered with scars earned in fierce battle. He has been pummeled with STOP signs, barbed wire baseball bats, tray after tray of light tubes and thumbtacks. He is not someone to be taken lightly. He is not someone to mess with. Shank Dorsey is a tough son of a gun.
Shank will be in the main event, defending his FIW Heavyweight Title against Drew Hanson.
Drew Hanson was a local radio personality. Drew Hanson is a local DJ. Drew Hanson has been a play by play announcer for (for FIW Home Videos) the past few years. Drew Hanson was NOT an amateur wrestler. To the best of my knowledge, Drew Hanson has never competed in fierce (adult) athletic competition. He is not an athlete. He has NEVER been formally trained in a professional wrestling ring. He has NEVER wrestled a match in his life.
This is "Total Horse Poop".
Let's put this in WWE terms. Shank Dorsey is the heavyweight champion. He is essentially HHH. Drew Hanson is an announcer who has never wrestled. Let's compare him Michael Cole. Jimmy Hart used to wrestle DJ's. That didn't go over very well. So why not put Bubba Love in the ring vs. Hogan? That would be hella-over right?
Does anyone want to see HHH vs. Michael Cole? Anyone? Can you imagine WWE trying to sell HHH vs. Michael Cole as the main event of the Royal Rumble? That would be "total horse poop".
Now, let's look at the potential "end game".
It is entirely (and likely) possible that Shank Dorsey will go out and destroy Drew Hanson. Shank should be able to decimate his inexperienced and untrained challenger in less than 3-minutes. If this happens, I will breathe a small sigh of relief and call Drew a moron for not having the foresight to realize he was in way over his head. Drew will be lucky to come out of this match alive. Shank is expected to win. This David vs. Goliath. Goliath better get it done.
Now, on the flip side, what if Drew is the Second Coming of Christ? What if Drew delivers a miracle? What if Drew pins Shank and wins the FIW Title? I slam my head into a wall and call Shank a moron for getting drunk before his match. Seriously though, Drew Hanson winning the title would a slap in the face to every wrestler who has ever laced up their boots. It would a slap in the face to guys that work hard, train, and dedicate themselves to the business. It would also send the message that every wrestler in FIW is a piece of crap. If an untrained DJ can beat the champion, how bad does the rest of the locker room suck? Could a 12-year old kid come out of the stands and pin the tag team champions?
Drew Hanson winning the FIW Title in a singles match would be more insulting than David Arquette winning the WCW Title in a 6-man match.
That is "total horse poop"
