Football
The Ohio Bobcats football (Division 1-A) team once again proves to be the most futile group of athletes in the country. The Bobcats were destroyed this weekend in their home opener. They were shut out 31 - 0 in the home opener. A 1-AA team manhandled them. That is bad.
This weekend the Bobcats are on the road. This weekend the Bobcats travel to Florida to face the #10, nationally ranked, Gators. This promises to spell UGLY. The Gators could easily route this into a 70-0 debacle. Coach Brian Knorr is 1 - 12 since taking over as the head coach.
Coach Jim Grobe (now head coach of Wake Forest) had the Bobcats in line as division contenders year in and year out. Coach Grobe lead the Bobcats to a halftime lead against the Ohio State Buckeyes a few years ago. He did it with a 17-year-old true freshman at starting quarterback.
I can only hope the Ohio University Athletic Department addresses this situation sooner rather than later.
In other football news, I am a huge Cleveland Brown's fan. The Browns find a new way to lose every week. Last year the Browns played hard for 58-minutes per game. Unfortunately, the games were 60-minutes long. The Browns lost 6 games last season in the closing minutes.
This year the Browns decided to out-do themselves. The Browns were winning 39 - 37 when the clock expired and the official blew his whistle. But, wait! There was a flag on the Browns defense. The Chiefs lined up and kicked a field goal with zero time on the clock. Way to go Browns!
Entertainment
As fans of this site know, I like off beat movies. I purchased numerous new DVD's in the past couple of weeks. The additions to my DVD library include; Plan 9 from Outer Space, The Evil Dead, The Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, The Toxic Avenger, and Mars Attacks. These films offer a rare combination of (some times unintentional) comedy and science fiction.
Family
My family is in the process of moving. My wife started a new job and moved 100-miles away. For the past month I have (essentially) been a single parent. We only see each other on weekends. This has created a fair amount of stress. Nearly every waking moment is spent catering to my son's needs and wants.
On the plus side, I get to play with my 3-year-old son each and every night. He loves to play t-ball, soccer, and wrestle. He keeps me on my toes.
I usually don't talk about my family on the web site. This site is supposed to be about pro wrestling. The reality is simple - my family is the most important thing in my life. My family is the reason I wake up every morning. My family is the reason I go to work every day.
Wrestling is fun. I enjoy wrestling. But, until my family life returns to normal, wrestling doesn't even come close to registering on the barometer.
