NEWS & NOTES

2 months and counting
September 5, 2001

It just occurred to me that I have been the reigning IWA World Wide Web Champion for the past two months and barely uttered a word about the title on this website. There is no time like the present. I have enjoyed my run over the course of the last couple months and I look to the future with great anticipation.

The IWAWrestling.com title is after all, the single most important title in the IWA. Let's look at the facts:

  • IWA Gym Wars title, many IWA legends have worn this strap at one time or another. If you can get over on a Sunday show, you can get over almost anywhere. This title was unified with the Internet title.
  • IWA Hardcore title, retired and out of the running.
  • IWA Cruiserweight title, Al B. Damm is tremendous as champion. Unfortunately, only wrestlers under 205 lbs. can aim for this title.
  • IWA Tag team titles, if you knew half of things that have happened to these titles, you would understand why they are not in the running.
  • IWA U.S. Heavyweight Champion, this belt is used by "Bad" Brad Shultz. Shultz doesn't carry the title; the title 'carries' him. Sadly, the belt cannot sustain the weight of Brad's enormous (and pale) belly. The sailing vessel known as BBS Ti-suckit crashed off of the coast of Charisma when it hit the notorious Workrate sandbar. The Coast Guard would be wise to look the other way.

This leads us to the IWA Heavyweight title held by the original "Too Cool" Trevor Lowe. Trevor is an excellent champion and a hard worker. He is a gifted performer. The reality is simple, when was the last time the IWA Heavyweight title was defended outside of Ohio? Can't think of the answer? Neither can I.

On the flip side, the Internet Title held by yours truly is available on the World Wide Web. Fans all over the world can watch me defend the title. IWA fans from Amsterdam to Zimbabwe can enjoy my matches from the comfort of their mud-carved-dwelling.

Since the Internet Title was announced in June, response has been phenomenal. The IWA website has attracted so many visitors that server administrators have been forced to restrict access and on a few occasions shut the site down entirely. How many websites do you know of that are taken offline because the server can not handle the multitude of requests? Not many.

There is clearly only one conclusion that can be drawn; the most important championship in the IWA is the IWAWrestling.com World Wide Web Title.
